It looks as though the Doctor was making it a habit of finding Lan in small spaces in his TARDIS.

This time, he found her in a tiny alcove near the power source, the TARDIS' connexion to the Eye of Harmony. Here he artron energy was at its highest level, almost infusing the air with a kind of life.

He peeked inside the alcove, finding a small mound of blankets and the jar of jam.

Somewhere from within the handknit-horta blankets, two eyes peer out and reflect the dim light.

"...hello, Doctor. There's room, if you'd like."

"Quite a hiding place," he answered, smiling. He joined her under the blankets, sitting next to her.

"I hope you don't mind? I honestly don't know how I found it, but I did."

She'll curl up and if he'll let her, she'll even lean against him a little -- it's been a hard couple of days.

"It's sort of soothing down here. I've been so tired. I could just sleep for days." Of course, she doesn't actually sleep, but that's not really the issue.

"Oh, no, it's all right." He's quite good for leaning on.

"We're in the heart of the TARDIS--as close to the Eye of Harmony as one can get, really, without being on Gallifrey."

"It's more than a little odd down here. Almost alive, you know?" She shakes her head and tries to rid herself of that odd fantasy.

"Sorry, Doctor. Letting things run away with me. Tell me more about the Eye of Harmony? I don't know what that really means."

"It is alive. After a fashion."

Blanket-sharing occurs. It's gotten to be something of an enjoyable diversion, looking for Lan and finding her in small, quiet alcoves. e so rarely allows himself a quiet moment.

"The Eye of Harmony is what powers almost everything we have, TARDISes being a perfect example. It's a true inexhaustable power source."

There's an odd smile on his face.

"I thought so. Something..." She trails off and readjusts herself and the blankets. Better to rest, easier to Almost Sleep.

Strange half remembered bits of poetry flit through her mind - I am moved by fancies that are curled, Around these images, and cling: The notion of some infinitely gentle, Infinitely suffering thing.

"I'd ask how it works, but I don't have a hope of understanding, do I? It's like Time Lords and verb tenses. Innate."

"There aren't very many who do understand it. It's ..." he looked for the right words. "A black hole, its energy harnessed by Rassilon in a fantastic feat of mathematics."

"Amazing." She lets her eyes drift shut, but keeps listening to him and offering the occasional, drowsy comment. "Which is harder to understand, the Eye or Rassilon himself?"

"What do you do when you can't sleep?"

"I don't often sleep," he answered quietly. "As to the Eye or Rassilon, I can't say. I haven't met him. Have you?"

"I have met him. A good man, one I'm glad to have known. Very, hmm, not convoluted or condensed, but there's so -much- of him. Like you, you know. Is that a Time Lord thing?"
